Near the flags, a monument honoring war dead; below that, sunbathers. It was warm but not super-hot or anything, so the water couldn't have been that inviting, but intrepid sunbathers will catch their rays anywhere -- even at the base of a concrete monument, or on the edges of rocks. It was actually quite pretty, and I ventured down to the water myself -- they had steps and handrails that led directly into the sea -- and got my legs wet. I'd been having an itch on them since late the night before, and I thought the water might be soothing. 

It was cold, and pleasant, but did nothing for the itchy rash, which would only get worse over the next seven days. Hurrah!
